Sử Hộ Vương, a Gamize product, is becoming the project holding the record for the fastest crowdfunding pace over the past 24 hours. This is the beginning of a remarkable achievement that YOU have created together with the game's creative and production team! Wonderful!
Personally, I like Sử Hộ Vương's artwork. Of course, when the development team chose this style, they anticipated mixed reactions.
Think of the history education programs you know, with their approach a formulaic, safe approach has a problem: it is so boring that even putting a cockroach through your crotch would not cure the boredom. We have a ‘lost generation’ that can talk fluently about Japanese lords such as Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Tokukawa, the Wei, Shu, and Wu of the Three Kingdoms, or the Four Lords of the Warring States, yet does not know Lý Thường Kiệt was a eunuch and a fascinating character to explore. Look at how other peoples draw on their history, then look at Vietnam. It is like blank pages of history, a cycle of ‘loss’ in young minds unable to connect with Vietnamese history. I too belong to this ‘lost generation.’ But instead of being part of the problem, we want to be part of the solution. It is a pity Vietnam cannot turn its thousands of years of heroic history into a national competitive advantage.
A successful product is not one that receives only praise but does not sell, nor one that receives no criticism but attracts no interest. It is a product that provokes two opposing streams of opinion: strong praise and strong criticism. Whether you love it or hate it, you simply cannot ignore it.
For me, the artwork is only a Tool for spreading Vietnamese History. This style has proved effective and is widely used worldwide. We do not need to develop a new, less effective style that takes us away from our ultimate goal: helping our people feel truly inspired by our history.
That is the distinction needed between Tools and Goals. “Creating a distinctive drawing style for Vietnam” is not Sử Hộ Vương's goal; let comic artists continue researching that. From both social activism and business perspectives, to me the drawing style remains a Tool. The Goal is to make Vietnamese people passionate about Vietnamese history in the Shortest time, using the most Resource-Efficient approach, the Smartest method, and the Strongest reach.
Sử Hộ Vương's crowdfunding Journey has only just begun, with a very challenging goal still ahead. Your ACTION plays an important part in creating a MIRACLE together.
