My main purpose in going to Đà Nẵng this time was to attend your wedding and wish you both well. The wedding was great fun. In Đà Nẵng, people prefer holding weddings at home rather than in restaurants. The Yuppies danced until all the guests had gone, and still kept dancing. A wedding with a checklist, Yuppies assigning tasks to each other and making care calls — attending it felt like a Đà Nẵng Yuppie New Year gathering rather than just a wedding. One look at the bride and groom and you know they will have a hard time escaping each other. Wishing you both happiness!
Xuân (the groom), whenever the Yuppies community in Đà Nẵng or nationwide needs you, you was always there. He took initiative, contributed and worked with the community to achieve goals creating positive social impact. Xuân did this for a long time.
Community work is not something you do when you feel inspired and happy, then abandon when difficulties or disagreements arise. Doing it a few times to feel like a “good person” is not difficult. Doing it consistently over a long period, leaving behind truly “decent values,” is what matters. Given enough time, the truth about ourselves always becomes clearer.
You do not have to wait until you are rich to do community work. You might die before ever getting around to it. Instead, contribute as much as your abilities allow. Adults do big things; young people do small things. Small things accumulate into big things. It should not be a phase, but something as natural as breathing: regular, sustained, connected, and directed toward a common ideal. Maintain balance. Your focus may vary from one period to another; what matters is consistency over time, as natural as breathing. Sometimes we breathe lightly, sometimes rapidly, sometimes we hold our breath briefly—but we do not stop breathing altogether to do something else, do we? As long as we are alive, our mission is not over. For the past 10 years, I have done this steadily and continuously. My heart is the same, my core values remain firm. I do not quit when things get hard or stop when disappointed. I remain resolute; the words I have spoken have all become reality. Although it is not always perfect, steady accumulation brings achievement.
For 10 years, I have remained steadfast on that path. I hope you have enough courage to do the same.
