Let us welcome the following new updates.
1. The Light Two fundraising project “Quảng Ngãi: Building Schools for Children” (http://lightcharity.com/xay-truong-cho-em/) in Sơn Bao Commune, Sơn Hà District, Quảng Ngãi Province has raised VND 382,675,875 to date.
However, two issues need to be considered before building the school at this location:
– First, the number of students currently attending this school site does not meet the Ministry of Education and Training's requirements for implementing the new general education curriculum. The locality must therefore consolidate satellite school sites into the main school, while arranging 2 sessions/day to improve educational quality and allow students to study foreign languages and information technology. This means this school site will no longer be used, as students will move to the main school.
– Second, under upcoming plans, Sơn Hà District will allocate funding to build new classrooms locally. This school site's current situation is not especially difficult, and the support could certainly go to another school that needs it more.
Light Charity received official confirmation of these two pieces of information from Mr. Phùng Tô Long, Vice Chairman of Sơn Hà District.
Therefore, the “Light Two: Build Schools for Children” project will not proceed with building a school at this location.
2. Therefore, Light Charity proposes using the contributions from benefactors to build other, more suitable and urgently needed school sites as follows:
– Light Charity proposes allocating 30,000,000 VND from the total 382,675,875 VND raised for the “Quảng Ngãi Builds Schools for Children” project to support another urgently needed school-building project in a particularly disadvantaged area: Khuổi Hắp village, Thiện Thuật commune, Bình Gia district, Lạng Sơn province. In this project, Light Charity will not build schools on its own but will work with a partner that is a true “Expert,” with a strong reputation and extensive experience building schools for pupils in remote areas: “Sao Biển – Room for Education.” This reputable nonprofit organization was registered in Austria in 2016 to help children aged 6 to 11 access quality education by building schools in remote areas and impoverished villages in Vietnam. As of October 2019, Sao Biển had successfully built 18 schools, improving learning conditions for hundreds of children in disadvantaged regions.

– Light Charity proposes using the remaining money to fully fund 100% of 1 school-building project at Tà Hàng school site, Tà Hàng village, Mường Toong commune, Mường Nhé district, Điện Biên province, with an estimated total budget of 350.000.000 VND. Light Charity sincerely hopes for donors' agreement so that the Light Two Fund can continue its mission of building schools for children. This will allow your kindness to keep reaching people who truly need it across the country, as transparently and practically as possible. May that kindness blossom, and may a school for disadvantaged students in remote areas soon take shape and serve many generations of local children. While our original plan would have supported just 1 school, we can now support as many as 2 schools.
3. If you do not agree with the proposed change above and wish to withdraw your donation, please respond to Light Charity before 31/5/2020. The Fund will refund the amount you contributed.
Regarding training benefits: we know you contribute not to receive courses taught directly by YUP Education and Mr. Tạ Minh Tuấn, but from a sincere desire to help disadvantaged people. However, Light Charity would like to announce that although the school construction location has changed, all your benefits for these courses remain unchanged, as detailed here: http://lightcharity.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/14.png
Regarding the benefit of having your name on the school's gratitude board: this will no longer be offered, because Light Charity believes it is unnecessary. Light believes its benefactors do not wish to inflate their egos through charity, but give purely and compassionately.

P.S.: The 1st photo shows the school in Quảng Ngãi that was to be rebuilt (now discontinued); the 2nd shows the school in Lạng Sơn receiving 30 million; and the 3rd shows the school in Điện Biên whose new construction is 100% funded by us, with a budget of 350 million. Clearly, the latter two schools face greater hardship and need more assistance.
