When society enters an era of overturned values, wrongdoers cause the market to distrust even honest people.
Insurance is one example.
Speaking and training is a second example.
The funniest thing is that sometimes on our Journey, people mistake us for the kinds of so-called experts, gurus and ‘speakers’ teaching wealth, investment, cryptocurrency, real estate and internet marketing who are everywhere these days. Often they lack not only inner strength and experience but even basic public-speaking ability, yet the stage’s glow still blinds them. They stand there talking like parrots, without the slightest stirring from the heart. For them, a class is merely a funnel, and students are cows waiting to be milked dry.
Deep down, I have never considered myself of the same kind or on the same level as those people. Perhaps that is a form of arrogance, but I think it is more a refusal to compromise. So I never associate with these so-called experts and gurus. Never.
I have little regard even for some foreign “speakers.” Everyone knows they have been scamming other countries for years and are now here to suck the blood of my poor compatriots who want billions without working hard.
So-called experts and gurus can spout nonsense wherever they like, but when they come to Saigon, with its generous, sincere, professional southerners, they “fall silent.” Or someone accustomed to opening funnels for thousands goes to Da Nang, meets Central Vietnamese people with determination, who match words with deeds, dislike exaggeration, and have integrity, and is “shattered,” forced to flee the market immediately. Yet, according to a human resources director here, after attending one of my programs she remarked: “TMT is the most successful speaker in Da Nang.” Let us just say that matching values attract each other.
A few days ago, I read someone's post saying how fortunate they were to learn the Buddha's teachings before entering working life, and then how fortunate they were to take YUP and TMT's Entrepreneurship class before falling into the maze of get-rich courses, “frantic giving,” and frantic money-making out there.
So even if just one more person is positively transformed by the program, or one more joins the community to support and strengthen one another in confidently doing business with their core values, that remains a great motivation for us. Do not let seeing those kinds of “entrepreneurs” out there making money shake your faith, cause you to abandon your values, or lose yourself. Rely on the community, on each other, and on your own Journey.
Consider this my final invitation to you for a ticket to Vietnam's first-ever training program that has students learning enthusiastically through the night, from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. the next day. The program is run by an organization with a pioneering role and a long-standing reputation in applying entrepreneurship education in Vietnam. X-Startup@Social will take place this Friday in Quảng Ngãi — a land of perseverance — co-organized by the Quảng Ngãi Department of Planning and Investment.
