I am delighted to announce that I have been selected as 1 of 8 leaders in healthcare worldwide, from more than 2,000 candidates across around 160 countries, to attend and make my voice heard at the One Young World global summit taking place in Colombia this October. I am also the only representative from Asia on this list. This year seems to be “Africa's moment”; in previous years, the continents were represented more evenly.
Those selected are considered people who create breakthrough changes in society, in the original words, ‘game changer/ change maker.’ I know that this description seems rather grand for me. Yet I remain inspired in my daily efforts to reach beyond the region and narrow the gap between Vietnam and the world.
One Young World is a rare occasion during the year when leaders from many fields, Nobel laureates, and countries’ prime ministers and presidents sit down together. This year, I am looking forward to speaking with Canada’s handsome prime minister and the beautiful actress Emma Watson, who regularly speaks out for gender equality.
